Ugandan goal shooter and long-serving national captain who became the first African player to star in England's Netball Superleague.
Peace Proscovia Drajole Agondua was born on 1 November 1989 in Arua, in Uganda's West Nile sub-region, one of seven children in a family that initially opposed her playing netball. She defied those expectations to become the driving force of Uganda's national team, known as the She Cranes, captaining the side from 2013 to 2023. Standing 1.91m tall and nicknamed "Warid Tower", Proscovia led Uganda to the 2013 Netball Singapore Nations Cup and the 2017 African Netball Championship. She became the first African player to sign with England's Netball Superleague, joining Loughborough Lightning in 2015, where she helped the club reach two Grand Finals and won the league title, Players' Player of the Season and the Golden Shot award as the competition's top scorer in 2017. She was Uganda's flag bearer at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, the country's first-ever appearance in the sport at the Games. Proscovia moved to Australia's Super Netball in 2019 with Sunshine Coast Lightning, scoring 670 goals in 42 games, before returning to England in 2022 to sign for Surrey Storm, where she won the Golden Shot award again in 2022 with 853 goals. She captained Uganda at the 2015 and 2019 World Cups, helping the She Cranes climb from 15th to inside the world's top ten during her captaincy, before stepping down as captain in 2023, succeeded by Irene Eyaru. She remains one of the most influential figures in African netball's growth on the global stage.
