Robert Prosinečki was born in Schwennigen, West Germany on 12 January 1969, to Croatian parents. He developed at Dinamo Zagreb before Red Star Belgrade signed him, where he won the 1991 European Cup — becoming one of the finest attacking midfielders in European football. He later played for Real Madrid, Oviedo, Barcelona, Sevilla, Standard Liège, Portsmouth, Fenerbahçe and NK Zagreb. He is uniquely the only player to score for two different countries at World Cups — representing Yugoslavia in 1990 and Croatia in 1994 and 1998. He earned 49 caps for Yugoslavia and 49 for Croatia (including qualifying). His technical ability and vision were admired by coaches throughout Europe, though injuries limited his peak years. He later managed the Bosnian national team.
