Sidney Patrick Crosby was born in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia in 1987. Pittsburgh Penguins selected him first overall in the 2005 NHL Draft. He won three Stanley Cup championships (2009, 2016, 2017), three Hart Trophies as MVP (2007, 2014, 2021), two Art Ross Trophies as scoring champion (2007, 2014) and two Conn Smythe Trophies as playoff MVP (2009, 2017). He won Olympic gold with Canada in 2010 and 2014 — his overtime gold medal goal against the USA in Vancouver in 2010 is the most watched moment in Canadian sports history since Paul Henderson's 1972 Summit Series winner. He became NHL captain at 19 — the youngest captain in league history at that time. He was named one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players in 2017.
