Atlético Madrid signed him in 2006 and he scored 101 goals in 234 appearances before Manchester City paid £38 million in 2011. His 10 seasons at the Etihad produced 260 goals in 390 appearances — the club's all-time record — and five Premier League titles, six League Cups and the FA Cup. His goal in the 93rd minute of the final day of the 2011–12 season against Queens Park Rangers — the most dramatic moment in Premier League history — secured City's first title in 44 years. He scored 184 Premier League goals, ranking him fifth all-time. He won the Premier League Golden Boot in 2018–19. He earned 101 Argentina caps, scoring 41 goals, and won the Copa América in 2021. A brief spell at Barcelona preceded a heart condition diagnosis that ended his career aged 33 in December 2021.
