Argentine striker known for his work rate, tenacity, and ability to score crucial goals. Won major trophies in Argentina, Brazil, England, and Italy.
Carlos Alberto Tevez was born in Ciudadela, Buenos Aires in 1984 and grew up in Fuerte Apache — one of Buenos Aires's most dangerous neighbourhoods — giving him his nickname The Apache. He won the Copa Libertadores with Boca Juniors at 18. His arrival at West Ham United in 2006 — in a controversial third-party ownership arrangement that was subsequently found to have breached Premier League rules — produced the goals that kept West Ham in the Premier League on the final day. Manchester United signed him in 2007 and he won the Champions League in 2008 and two Premier League titles. He moved to Manchester City in 2009 — his banner on the side of a Manchester building reading 'Welcome to Manchester' after his City signing became one of football's most celebrated pieces of rivalry. He scored the winning penalty in the Champions League Final. He won Serie A with Juventus. His combination of work rate, competitive intensity and goal-scoring made him the most tenacious forward of his era.
Bulldog-like tenacity, street football skills, clutch performances
He became the first player to score for Manchester United and then Manchester City in the same season.
