Samantha May Kerr was born in Fremantle, Western Australia in 1993. She made her senior debut for Australia aged 15 — the youngest player in Matildas history. She joined Chelsea in 2020 for a fee reported to be a world record for women's football at the time. Her Chelsea career produced multiple consecutive Women's Super League titles. She won the WSL with Chelsea in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023. She was named Chelsea Player of the Year multiple times. She is the all-time leading scorer for the Matildas and the all-time leading scorer in NWSL history from her time with Western New York Flash, Sky Blue FC, Chicago Red Stars and Perth Glory. She was named Asian Football Confederation Women's Player of the Year. She led Australia to the semi-finals of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup on home soil, her run helping produce one of the tournament's most emotional moments. She is the most capped and highest-scoring Australian in the women's game.
