Jamaican goal shooter and the most-capped player in Australian domestic league history, with over 245 national league games across an 18-season career.
Romelda Aiken-George (née Aiken) was born on 19 November 1988 and made her international debut for Jamaica in 2005 as a teenage replacement shooter, rising to prominence during the 2007 World Netball Championships. Standing 1.96m tall, she signed with Australia's Queensland Firebirds in 2008, becoming a trailblazer as one of the first Jamaican players to build a career in the Australian league. Aiken-George spent 14 seasons with the Firebirds, winning three premierships and three league MVP awards, and in 2014 became the first player to score 3,500 goals in the ANZ Championship. She later played a season with the NSW Swifts (2023), helping them reach the Grand Final, before joining Adelaide Thunderbirds in 2024, where she won the premiership and was named Grand Final MVP. In 2025 she surpassed Geva Mentor's long-standing record to become the most-capped player in the history of the ANZ Championship and Suncorp Super Netball, with 233 appearances. Aiken-George announced her retirement in 2025 with 245 national league games to her name, four premierships and three World Championship/World Cup bronze medals with Jamaica, plus two Commonwealth Games bronzes. Her retirement was short-lived: in December 2025, with fellow Jamaican Jhaniele Fowler pregnant and unavailable, West Coast Fever signed Aiken-George as her replacement for a 19th domestic season in 2026, extending her own all-time appearance record further.
