Roberto Durán was born in Panama City, Panama in 1951 and turned professional at 16. He won world championships in four weight divisions: lightweight, welterweight, light middleweight and middleweight. He went 89 consecutive professional fights without a defeat. He won the WBC middleweight title aged 37 defeating Iran Barkley. His professional career spanned from 1968 to 2001 — 33 years and 119 bouts, winning 104. He was knocked down only twice across that career. His hand speed, aggression and extraordinary durability made him one of the most remarkable professional boxing careers in history. He is widely regarded as the greatest lightweight of all time.
