Norwegian rally and rallycross driver who became World Rally Champion in 2003 and later won two consecutive World Rallycross Championships in 2014-2015.
Petter Solberg was born in Askim, Norway in 1974. He won the 2003 World Rally Championship — Norway's first WRC champion. His celebration of the title in Cardiff — jumping from his car, screaming, running into the crowd — is one of rallying's most celebrated individual moments of spontaneous joy. He won 13 WRC rallies. He later transitioned to World Rallycross, winning two championship titles. His son Oliver Solberg also races in the WRC — competing against his father's contemporaries. He is Norway's most celebrated motorosport competitor.
