Senegalese striker known for spectacular goals and prolific scoring across European leagues, particularly remembered for his stunning strike against Chelsea.
Papiss Demba Cissé was born in Dakar, Senegal on 3 June 1985. A powerful, direct centre-forward blessed with raw pace and exceptional finishing ability, Cissé spent the formative years of his career in the German Bundesliga with Freiburg before Newcastle United signed him for £9m in January 2012. His debut season at St James’ Park was extraordinary — 13 Premier League goals in 14 games, including a stunning 30-yard volley against Chelsea that many consider one of the greatest goals ever scored in the division. He remained a popular figure at Newcastle for several seasons before moves to Shandong Luneng, Beikong FC and Ankaragücü. For Senegal he earned 73 caps and scored 26 goals, appearing at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations where Senegal were runners-up.
