English footballer born in 2005, central midfielder for Manchester United and England. Became youngest England player to score in a Euros final.
Kobbie Mainoo was born in Stockport, England in 2005. Manchester United's academy developed him from a child. He made his first-team debut in November 2023 and by season's end had become one of United's most important players — his composure, passing range and defensive positioning generating comparisons to Paul Scholes from coaches and pundits across the league. He scored in the FA Cup Final against Manchester City at Wembley in May 2024 — aged 19. He was called up to Gareth Southgate's Euro 2024 squad and played significant minutes as England reached the final. At 19 he is the most talented central midfielder to emerge from United's academy since Scholes — his ability to receive in tight spaces under pressure and immediately find progressive passes is unusual at his age. He is considered one of England's most important future midfielders.
