Kenneth Mathieson Dalglish was born in Glasgow in 1951 and joined Celtic (1969–1977) where he won 4 Scottish titles and scored 167 goals in 320 appearances. Liverpool paid £440,000 in 1977 — then a British record for a transfer between two British clubs — to replace Kevin Keegan. He spent 13 seasons (1977–1990) scoring 172 goals in 515 appearances and winning 8 First Division titles, 3 European Cups and 2 FA Cups. He earned 102 Scotland caps scoring 30 goals — then the national record. His top speed of 28.7 km/h and 9.8 km per game reflect a player whose genius was touch, vision and movement rather than athleticism. He scored 351 career goals and provided 243 assists in 851 appearances. He was FWA Footballer of the Year twice (1979, 1983). He became Liverpool player-manager in 1985 and won the First Division and FA Cup Double in 1986. He later managed Blackburn Rovers (winning Premier League 1995) and had a second Liverpool stint (2011–2012). He is the only player to have scored more than 100 goals in both Scotland and England.
