Chelsea captain and one of the Premier League's most commanding centre-backs across two decades at Stamford Bridge.

John George Terry was born in Barking, Essex in 1980 and joined Chelsea's youth academy at 14, making his senior debut in 1998. He made 717 appearances for Chelsea across 22 years of association with the club — second only to Ron Harris in the club's history. He captained Chelsea to five Premier League titles (2005, 2006, 2010, 2015, 2017), five FA Cups, four League Cups and the Champions League in 2012. He was the defining Premier League centre-back of his era — dominant in the air, ferocious in the tackle, an exceptional organiser who set the standard for the Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti dynasties. He won the PFA Players' Player of the Year award in 2005 and was selected for the PFA Team of the Year six times. He was named in the Premier League's 20-year anniversary team. He earned 78 England caps and captained the national side. His 2012 Champions League final appearance was controversial — suspended after a red card in the semi-final, he nevertheless appeared in full kit for the post-match celebrations. He left Chelsea for Aston Villa in 2017 before retiring and joining Villa's coaching staff. His record as Chelsea's most decorated captain across the most successful period in the club's history is unquestioned.
