Joaquín Sánchez Rodríguez was born in El Puerto de Santa María, Spain on 21 July 1981. He began at Real Betis, the club of his heart, before spells at Valencia and Málaga. He returned to Betis in 2015 and played until retiring in 2023 at the age of 41. He holds the record for the most La Liga appearances of all time with over 600 games. His electrifying pace, dribbling skill and infectious personality made him one of the most entertaining players in Spanish football history. He won the Copa del Rey with Betis in 2022. He earned 51 caps for Spain.
