Gennaro Ivan Gattuso was born in Corigliano Calabro, Italy on 9 January 1978. After starting at Rangers in Scotland, he joined AC Milan in 1999 and became the heartbeat of their midfield. His incredible work rate, aggression, tackling and sheer determination made him the perfect complement to more creative teammates like Pirlo and Seedorf. He won two Champions Leagues (2003, 2007), two Serie A titles and the Club World Cup. He made over 460 appearances for Milan. He earned 73 caps for Italy and was a key member of the 2006 World Cup-winning squad. After retiring, he became a manager, coaching Milan, Napoli, Valencia and Marseille.
