Born in Oxford, Mississippi, on August 1, 1997, DeKaylin Zecharius "DK" Metcalf grew up in a football family as the son of former NFL guard Terelle Metcalf. He attended high school in Mississippi before transferring to play his senior season at Oxford High School. Metcalf committed to the University of Mississippi, where he played three seasons for the Rebels from 2016 to 2018. His college career was hampered by injuries, including a neck injury that limited his junior season, leading many NFL scouts to question his durability despite his obvious physical gifts.
