Christiane Endler emerged from a country with little investment in women's football to become one of the finest goalkeepers of her generation, first earning global recognition after moving to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017. She ended Lyon's stranglehold on the French league in 2021, conceding just four goals all season for PSG, before moving to Lyon itself in 2021 and winning the UEFA Women's Champions League in 2022, becoming the first Chilean player to lift the trophy. Endler captained Chile to their first-ever FIFA Women's World Cup appearance in 2019 and became the first Chilean, male or female, to reach 100 international caps. Her performances have repeatedly been ranked among the best in the world, culminating in the Best FIFA Women's Goalkeeper award in 2021.
