Thierry Daniel Henry was born in Les Ulis, a working-class commune south of Paris, in 1977, and began his professional career as a winger at Monaco under Arsène Wenger. After a difficult year at Juventus (1998–99), Wenger brought him to Arsenal and converted him to a centre-forward — a decision that transformed both player and club. His eight seasons at Arsenal (1999–2007) produced 228 goals in 370 appearances, two Premier League titles and four FA Cups. He was the Premier League's top scorer four times and named PFA and FWA Player of the Year twice. His 2003–04 season as part of the Invincibles — Arsenal's unbeaten league campaign — was the finest individual performance in English football that decade. He joined Barcelona in 2007 and won the Champions League, La Liga and the Copa del Rey under Pep Guardiola. He earned 123 caps for France, scoring 51 goals — the national record at the time of his retirement — and won the 1998 World Cup and 2000 European Championship. A brief return to Arsenal on loan in 2012 brought an emotional farewell. He scored 411 career goals across all competitions.
