Terry Cummings was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1961. San Diego Clippers selected him second overall in the 1982 NBA Draft after four years at DePaul University. His 18-season career produced 16.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game and two All-Star appearances. He won the Rookie of the Year award in 1983. He was traded to Milwaukee in 1984 in a blockbuster deal and became the Bucks' leading scorer for five seasons. He averaged 23.6 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in 1986-87 — his finest individual season. His move to San Antonio in 1989 saw him partner with David Robinson as the Spurs' power forward. He played until the age of 38 — a longevity reflecting exceptional physical conditioning throughout his career. He was ordained as a minister during his playing career and was known for his religious beliefs, musical talent and community work in every city he played.
