American football wide receiver who ranks among the greatest in NFL history with 15,934 receiving yards and six Pro Bowl selections.
Terrell Eldorado Owens was born in Alexander City, Alabama in 1973. The San Francisco 49ers selected him 89th overall in the 1996 Draft. He holds the second-most receiving yards (15,934) and third-most receiving touchdowns (153) in NFL history. His performance in the 2004 NFC Championship game — playing on a broken ankle after emergency surgery — was voted the most courageous individual performance in NFL playoff history. His conflicts with Donovan McNabb at Philadelphia, his press conferences involving a mock awards ceremony and using a cheerleader's pom-poms for a touchdown celebration, and his public disputes with coaches at San Francisco and Dallas generated more individual media coverage than any NFL player of his era. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2018.
