Irish Thoroughbred racehorse who achieved a perfect undefeated career, winning six Group 1 races in 2009 including the Derby and Arc de Triomphe.

Born on New Year's Day 2006 at the renowned Gilltown Stud in Ireland, this bay colt emerged from exceptional bloodlines that would prove prophetic of his future greatness. His sire Cape Cross was a Group 1 winner, while his dam Urban Sea had produced two previous Epsom Derby winners in Galileo and Sea The Stars' full brother. The combination of stamina and speed in his pedigree attracted the attention of Christopher Tsui, who purchased the yearling for training under John Oxx at the Curragh. Sea The Stars began his racing career as a two-year-old in 2008, winning his debut at the Curragh before claiming the Group 1 National Stakes later that season. However, it was his three-year-old campaign in 2009 that established him as a phenomenon. Under jockey Mick Kinane, he embarked on an extraordinary sequence that began with victory in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket in May. This was followed by triumph in the Epsom Derby, demonstrating his versatility by winning over the extended mile-and-a-half distance. The colt's defining achievement lay in his unprecedented sweep of Europe's most prestigious races across varying distances and conditions. After Derby success, he captured the Eclipse Stakes, International Stakes at York, and Irish Champion Stakes, showcasing remarkable adaptability from one mile to ten furlongs. His campaign culminated in October with victory in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp, becoming only the second horse to complete the Derby-Arc double in the same season. Sea The Stars retired undefeated in eight starts, a perfect record that distinguishes him among modern thoroughbreds. His performances established new standards for European flat racing, with many experts considering his 2009 season the finest individual campaign in the sport's recent history. Upon retirement to stud, he has continued his influence through his progeny, cementing his status as both an exceptional racehorse and an important stallion in contemporary breeding.
