Ryne Sandberg is the greatest second baseman in Chicago Cubs history, the 1984 NL MVP who set the standard for the position with his exceptional combination of power, defence, and baserunning. A nine-time Gold Glove winner, Sandberg's flawless fielding technique and consistent offensive production — including 282 career home runs — made him one of baseball's most complete players.
