American quarterback who holds multiple NFL passing records and won two Super Bowls with Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos during legendary career
Peyton Williams Manning was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1976, son of NFL quarterback Archie Manning. Indianapolis Colts selected him first overall in 1998. His 18-season career produced 71,940 passing yards, 539 touchdowns and a record five NFL MVP awards. He won two Super Bowls: Super Bowl XLI with the Colts (2007) and Super Bowl 50 with the Denver Broncos (2016) — the first quarterback to win championships with two franchises. He set the then-single-season TD record with 49 in 2004 and broke it himself with 55 in 2013. He missed the entire 2011 season with neck injuries before returning to win a second title. His cerebral approach — reading defences, calling audibles, pre-snap adjustments — made him the most analytically sophisticated quarterback of his era. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021.
