Peter Prevc

Slovenian ski jumper and the first person to jump 250 metres, who won the 2016 overall World Cup title with a record-breaking single season of 15 individual wins.

Born on 20 September 1992 in Kranj, Slovenia, Peter Prevc made his FIS World Cup debut in 2010 and broke through with his first individual win at Tauplitzalm in the 2013-14 season, a campaign that also brought him the Ski Flying World Cup title. He established himself as a specialist in ski flying, the discipline involving the sport's longest jumps on the largest hills. On 14 February 2015, Prevc became the first athlete in history to land a jump of 250 metres, set at Vikersund, Norway, while defending his Ski Flying World Cup title that same season. The following year, 2015-16, brought the finest season of his career: Prevc won the Four Hills Tournament with a then-record score of 1,139.4 points, claimed the overall World Cup title outright with 15 individual wins in a single season — a new all-time record — and became Ski Flying World Champion. In 2015 at Planica, Prevc became one of only a handful of ski jumpers in history to record a 'perfect jump', earning the maximum style score of 20 points from all five judges. At the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics, he won silver on the normal hill and bronze on the large hill, adding to a collection that eventually totalled five Olympic medals across individual and team events, including a mixed team gold. Prevc competed at World Cup level from 2010 to 2024, finishing with 24 individual World Cup wins and three Ski Flying World Cup titles. He remains one of Slovenia's most decorated Olympians and a pioneering figure in the sport's ski-flying discipline.
