He played for the Cleveland Browns from 1946 to 1955, appearing in 10 consecutive championship games and winning seven across the AAFC and NFL — the most sustained championship dominance of any quarterback in professional football history. He was named All-Pro nine times and won three NFL MVP awards. He averaged 17.1 yards per completion across his career and retired as the highest-rated passer in professional football history at the time. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1965.
