Oleg Blokhin was the Soviet Union's greatest footballer. He won the Ballon d'Or in 1975 — one of only two Soviet players to do so — and scored a then-record 112 goals for the Soviet Union and Ukraine. At Dynamo Kyiv he won eight Soviet league titles and two European Cup Winners' Cups. He later managed the Ukraine national team.

He is one of only two Soviet players to win the Ballon d'Or — the other being his Dynamo Kyiv teammate Igor Belanov.
