Michael James Haynes was born in Santa Cruz, California in 1953. The Patriots selected him fifth overall in 1976. He won nine Pro Bowls. He was traded to the Los Angeles Raiders in 1983 and immediately contributed to his Super Bowl XVIII championship. His combination of length, press coverage and ball skills made him one of the elite cornerbacks of the 1970s and 1980s. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1997.
