American former NFL wide receiver who played for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1974-1982, winning four Super Bowls and earning Super Bowl X MVP honors.
Lynn Swann was born in Alcoa, Tennessee in 1952. A trained dancer before football, his body control produced the most acrobatic catches in Super Bowl history. His 53-yard diving grab in Super Bowl X is the most celebrated individual catch in the game's history. He won four championships with the Steelers. Swann was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001, and later served a term as chairman of the President's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition before an unsuccessful run for Governor of Pennsylvania in 2006, adding a notable public-life chapter to a career already defined by some of the most iconic postseason catches the sport has produced.
