Luis Fernando Díaz Marulanda was born in Barrancas, Colombia on 13 January 1997. He grew up in a Wayuu indigenous community in La Guajira. After impressing at Porto, where he won the league title, he joined Liverpool in January 2022 for £37.5 million. His electric pace, fearless dribbling and ability to score spectacular goals have made him a fan favourite at Anfield. He has scored over 30 goals for Liverpool. He has earned over 50 caps for Colombia. His family endured a kidnapping ordeal when his father was briefly abducted in 2023, from which he was later freed.
