Lisa Ashton

English darts player nicknamed 'The Lancashire Rose', a four-time BDO Women's World Champion and the first woman to win a PDC Tour Card.

Born in Bolton, Lancashire, on 27 August 1970, Lisa Ashton built her game playing alongside her brothers before rising through the ranks of women's darts. She won the 2008 Women's Zuiderduin Masters, beating Trina Gulliver in the final, and reached the semi-finals of the World Masters twice before winning the title outright in 2011. Ashton's greatest period of dominance came from 2014, when she won the BDO Women's World Championship at Lakeside four times in five years — 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018 — a comeback from two sets down against top seed Deta Hedman securing her maiden title. Only Trina Gulliver, with ten titles, has won more BDO women's world crowns. In 2020, at age 49, Ashton made history as the first woman to win a PDC Tour Card, defeating 13 male opponents over four days of Q-School. In March 2021, she became the first woman since 2005 to win a match at the UK Open, setting a women's record televised average of 100.3 in the process, and she has continued to compete in the PDC Women's Series and at multiple PDC World Championships. In 2025, at 54, she won her first televised PDC title, the Women's World Matchplay, beating Fallon Sherrock in a final-leg decider. With over 100 career titles, Ashton is regarded as one of the most successful and influential figures in the history of women's darts, and a trailblazer for women competing in mixed-gender professional events.
