Spanish footballer who became the youngest player to appear in a European Championship and youngest goalscorer in the tournament's history at Euro 2024.

Lamine Yamal Nasraoui Ebana was born in Esplugues de Llobregat, Spain on 16 July 2007 — the same day Spain won Euro 2008, as coincidence would have it, though that competition was in 2008. He made his Barcelona debut at 15 years and 290 days in April 2023 — the youngest player in the club's history. At Euro 2024 he became the youngest player to appear in a European Championship and scored a stunning curling goal in the semi-final against France aged 16 years and 362 days — the youngest goalscorer in the tournament's history. Spain beat England in the final two days after his 17th birthday. He won the Kopa Trophy as the world's best under-21 player in 2024 and was nominated for the Ballon d'Or in the same year — at 17 the youngest nominee in the award's history. He won La Liga with Barcelona in 2024. He forms the most feared young wing partnership in European football alongside Nico Williams. Comparisons to Messi — the same Barcelona academy, the same position, similar close control — were made immediately and have not diminished. He is the most exciting teenage talent European football has produced since Wayne Rooney at Euro 2004. Yamal finished second in the 2025 Ballon d'Or behind Ousmane Dembélé and collected the Kopa Trophy as the world's best young player. In 2025-26, still only 18, he added a second La Liga title with 16 goals and 12 assists, passing 49 senior goals and 50 assists for Barcelona in just his third full season.
