Kevin De Bruyne was born in Ghent, Belgium in 1991. A difficult start at Chelsea — only three Premier League appearances before loans to Werder Bremen and Vitesse — was followed by two outstanding Bundesliga seasons at Wolfsburg, being named player of the year in 2014-15. Manchester City paid £55 million in August 2015 in one of the decade's finest pieces of transfer business. His career at the Etihad has produced six Premier League titles, the Champions League in 2023, the FA Cup and four League Cups. He set the Premier League record for most assists in a season with 20 in 2019-20 and was named PFA Players' Player of the Year twice (2020, 2022). A serious facial injury at the 2021 Champions League final curtailed his impact in that match. He earned over 100 Belgium caps and was the creative force behind Belgium's golden generation reaching the 2018 World Cup semi-finals.
