Joseph Clifford Montana Jr. was born in New Eagle, Pennsylvania in 1956. San Francisco 49ers developed him into the defining quarterback of the 1980s. He won four Super Bowls (1982, 1985, 1989, 1990) and was named Super Bowl MVP three times. He never threw an interception in Super Bowl play. He won two NFL MVP awards (1989, 1990). He engineered 31 fourth-quarter comebacks. The Catch — his touchdown pass to Dwight Clark in the 1982 NFC Championship — is one of the most famous plays in NFL history. He later played for the Kansas City Chiefs (1993-94). He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000. The first truly great game manager combined with elite arm talent — his 127.8 passer rating across Super Bowls remains a record.
