Prolific and instinctive goalscorer who ranks among the Premier League's all-time top scorers across a career spanning two decades.
Jermain Colin Defoe was born in Beckton, London on 7 October 1982. He came through the Charlton Athletic and West Ham academies before joining Tottenham in 2004. A natural finisher with electric pace and deadly movement in the box, Defoe scored 163 Premier League goals, placing him eighth on the all-time list. He had two spells at Tottenham, as well as stints at Portsmouth, Sunderland, AFC Bournemouth, Rangers and Toronto FC. At Rangers he won the Scottish Premiership in 2021 under Steven Gerrard. For England, he earned 57 caps and scored 20 goals, including a hat-trick at the 2010 World Cup.
