Holger Rune was born on 29 April 2003 in Copenhagen, Denmark. He turned professional in 2019 and made rapid progress, breaking into the top 10 in 2022 after winning the Paris Masters — his first Masters 1000 title — defeating Novak Djokovic in the final. Rune is known for his fiery temperament, explosive groundstrokes and tremendous fighting spirit. He has frequently been coached by Boris Becker. Rune's aggressive baseline style and physical intensity make him one of the most watchable players on tour. He has reached a career-high ranking of No. 4 in the world.
He became the youngest player to win a Masters 1000 title since Novak Djokovic in 2007 when he captured the 2022 Paris Masters at age 19.
