New Zealand midcourter who won the 2019 World Cup and later captained the Silver Ferns, retiring in 2026 after a career spanning both sides of the Tasman.
Gina Crampton was born on 7 December 1991 in Wellington, the daughter of Colin Crampton, a former basketball international for New Zealand. She made her senior Silver Ferns debut in October 2016 against Australia, having previously won the Aspiring Silver Fern award in 2015, and was named the 2016 New Zealand ANZ Championship Player of the Year. Crampton went on to earn 70 caps for New Zealand, playing a starring role in the Silver Ferns' 2019 Netball World Cup triumph in Liverpool. She was named to the national leadership group ahead of the 2020 Netball Nations Cup alongside Jane Watson, and was appointed the Silver Ferns' 28th captain in 2021, leading New Zealand to Constellation Cup success that year and to a bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Domestically, Crampton won back-to-back ANZ Premiership titles with Southern Steel in 2017 and 2018, being named the competition's Player of the Year in 2019, before moving to Northern Stars in 2021. She later crossed the Tasman, playing for Giants Netball and the NSW Swifts in Australia's Super Netball, before returning to New Zealand for a final season with Mainland Tactix in 2026, retiring at age 34 having played 70 Tests and over 150 domestic matches across both countries.
