Dzsenifer Marozsan is one of the most technically gifted playmakers of her generation, an elegant, creative midfielder who captained Germany and became the beating heart of Lyon's dominant Champions League sides. Born in Budapest to a Hungarian footballer father before moving to Germany as a child, she scored the decisive opening goal in the 2016 Rio Olympic final as Germany beat Sweden to win their first Olympic football title. At club level she won the UEFA Women's Champions League five times, once with 1. FFC Frankfurt and four times with Lyon, alongside seven French league titles. She retired from international football in 2023 with 111 caps and 33 goals, citing the lasting effects of a serious knee injury, before later playing on in Saudi Arabia.
