David Robinson won two NBA Championships with the San Antonio Spurs (1999 and 2003) — the second partnering with Tim Duncan in one of basketball's greatest center pairings. He served two years in the US Navy before entering the NBA and was the Rookie of the Year, MVP, Defensive Player of the Year and scoring champion during his career. He also won Olympic gold in 1992 and 1996.

He served two years of active duty in the United States Navy before entering the NBA — delaying his rookie season and making him the most unusual draft pick in league history.
