David Olatukunbo Alaba was born in Vienna, Austria on 24 June 1992 to Nigerian and Filipino parents. He came through Bayern Munich's academy and became one of the most versatile defenders in world football, excelling at left-back, centre-back and midfield. He won 10 Bundesliga titles, two Champions Leagues and the Club World Cup with Bayern. He joined Real Madrid on a free transfer in 2021 and adapted seamlessly at centre-back, winning two La Liga titles, the Champions League in 2022 and 2024, and multiple trophies. A serious ACL injury in December 2023 sidelined him. He has earned over 100 caps for Austria and captained the national team. He is the most decorated Austrian footballer in history.
