Dan Roundfield was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1953. Indiana Pacers selected him in the 1975 ABA Draft. His 11-season career produced 13.7 points and 9.3 rebounds per game along with three All-Star appearances. He was named to the All-NBA Second Team and the All-NBA Defensive First Team twice. He was the Atlanta Hawks' most consistent big man across six seasons — providing defensive anchor alongside Dominique Wilkins' offensive brilliance in the early 1980s. His combination of rebounding, interior defence and efficient scoring made him one of the more complete power forwards of his era. He died in 2012 while on vacation in Aruba. His Atlanta career is underappreciated in the broader NBA narrative — he was never on a championship team and played in a market that received limited national coverage — but his defensive consistency and rebounding production placed him among the better power forwards of the late 1970s and early 1980s.
