Born in Newcastle upon Tyne on 3 July 1998, Callan Rydz topped the 2019 PDC Challenge Tour Order of Merit to earn his PDC Tour Card. He won his first two PDC ranking titles during the 2021 Pro Tour season, a year that also brought him the PDC's Young Player of the Year award, and added a third ranking title in 2023. Rydz reached the quarter-finals of the PDC World Championship in both 2022 and 2025, losing on both occasions to the eventual champion — Peter Wright in 2022 and, in 2025, after setting a new record for the highest first-round average of the tournament, going out at the quarter-final stage having whitewashed seeded opponents Martin Schindler and Dimitri van den Bergh along the way. Cousin of fellow professional Chris Dobey, Rydz is known on the circuit as 'The Riot' for his fast-paced, attacking style of throwing. He also reached the quarter-finals of the 2021 World Matchplay in his breakthrough season.
