Arnold Daniel Palmer was born in Latrobe, Pennsylvania in 1929. He won seven major championships. More importantly, he was the first golfer to capture a mass television audience — his attacking style, his connection with the gallery (Arnie's Army) and his personality made golf the sport it is on television. He won the Masters four times and the first two Open Championships he entered, helping to revive the prestige of the R&A Championship. He never won the US PGA Championship — the only major to elude him. He created one of the most enduring non-alcoholic drinks: the Arnold Palmer (iced tea and lemonade). He won the Masters in 1958, 1960, 1962 and 1964.
