2. Data We Collect

We collect limited technical data automatically when you visit this site, including: browser type and version; pages visited and time spent; approximate location (country level); referring website. We do not collect your name, email address or payment information unless you contact us directly.

This data is processed by our third-party service providers listed below. We do not sell or share your data with any other parties.

3. Lawful Basis for Processing

We process personal data on the following lawful bases under UK GDPR:

  • Legitimate interests — for website analytics (understanding how the site is used to improve it) and for temporary IP-based rate limiting on the Head-to-Head voting feature (preventing vote fraud)
  • Consent — for advertising cookies placed by Google AdSense and Microsoft Clarity. You may withdraw consent at any time via our cookie settings

4. Cookies & Third-Party Services

This site uses the following third-party services which may place cookies on your device. Non-essential cookies are only loaded after you have given consent.

  • Google Analytics — traffic analysis and usage statistics. Data retained for 14 months. Google Privacy Policy
  • Google AdSense — advertising. Google may use cookies and web beacons to serve interest-based ads. Opt out at Google Ad Settings. Google Privacy Policy
  • Microsoft Clarity — session recording and heatmaps for usability analysis. No personally identifiable information is recorded. Microsoft Privacy Statement
  • Cloudflare — content delivery network and security. Cloudflare processes traffic data including IP addresses as a data processor on our behalf. Cloudflare Privacy Policy
  • Cloudflare Workers KV (Vote Tally) — when you cast a vote in the Head-to-Head feature, your IP address is temporarily stored for 24 hours solely to prevent duplicate votes. It is not linked to any other personal data, not used for tracking or profiling, and is automatically deleted after 24 hours. The vote tally itself contains no personal data.

4a. Education Hub

The Education Hub provides curriculum-aligned sports biography resources for teachers and students. No personal data is collected through the Education Hub. Resources are filtered and displayed locally in your browser; modal content is loaded from a static file; print and PDF functions are processed entirely within your browser. No student or teacher data is transmitted to or stored by us.

If you use the Head-to-Head voting widget within the Education Hub, the same IP-based rate limiting described above applies.

5. Data Retention

Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months. Microsoft Clarity data is retained for 13 months. IP addresses used for vote rate limiting are automatically deleted after 24 hours. We do not store any other personal data beyond what third-party processors collect as described above.

6. Your Rights (UK GDPR)

Under UK GDPR you have the following rights:

  • The right to access the personal data we hold about you
  • The right to correct inaccurate personal data
  • The right to erasure of your personal data
  • The right to restrict or object to processing
  • The right to data portability
  • The right to withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)

To exercise any of these rights, contact: [email protected]

7. Right to Complain

If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
