Red 5 — the most popular British Formula 1 driver of his era, whose passionate driving style and dramatic near-misses made him the sport's most emotional figure before finally winning the championship in 1992.

Nigel Mansell won the Formula 1 World Championship in 1992 with Williams in the most dominant fashion the sport had ever seen — winning nine races. He then crossed to the United States and won the CART IndyCar championship in 1993 — the only person to hold both titles simultaneously. His dramatic battles with Nelson Piquet, Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost made him the most compelling British driver of his era.

He is the only person in history to hold the Formula 1 and American CART IndyCar championship titles simultaneously.
