The Phenomenon — two-time World Cup winner whose combination of pace and technique made him the most complete centre-forward ever.

Ronaldo Nazário — "the Phenomenon" — was considered by Pelé, Maradona and Zidane to be the finest centre-forward in history. His 1996-97 season at Barcelona (47 goals in 49 games), followed by the 2002 World Cup where he top-scored with eight goals, represent the pinnacle of the centre-forward art. Three serious knee injuries made his story one of sporting resilience.

He scored both goals in the 2002 World Cup final having recovered from knee surgery that doctors feared had ended his career.
