The original working-class darts hero — two-time BDO World Champion whose infectious smile, extraordinary natural ability and remarkable life story made him one of the sport's most beloved figures.
Jocky Wilson won the BDO World Championship twice (1982 and 1989) and was one of the most naturally gifted players the sport has ever seen. His unconventional, hunched throwing style produced extraordinary accuracy. His story — from poverty in Kirkcaldy to world champion — captured the public imagination and made him darts' first truly working-class hero. He retired mysteriously in 1995 and largely disappeared from public life until his death in 2012.
After retiring in 1995, he largely disappeared from public life — living reclusively in Kirkcaldy until his death in 2012. His story inspired a play and numerous documentaries.
