Dmitry Bivol was born in Tokmak, Kyrgyzstan in 1990 to a Russian father. He holds the WBA light heavyweight title. His 2022 victory over Canelo Álvarez — defeating the most commercially powerful boxer in the world by unanimous decision — was the biggest upset in boxing since Fury-Wilder I. His combination of ring craft, jab, movement and the ability to neutralise opponents' strengths with exceptional defensive positioning made his performance against Canelo technically one of the finest by any fighter in recent years. He is considered the finest technical active boxer in the sport by most analysts.
